Barmenia boosts its digital transformation with Celonis

Strategic partnership for company-wide use of process mining

Munich, July 30, 2024Celonis, the global leader in Process Mining and Process Intelligence, and Barmenia Versicherungen today announced that they will expand their cooperation to further drive the optimization of the insurance group's processes. The strategic partnership marks a significant milestone in Barmenia's digital transformation, underscoring its dedication to enhancing and automating operational processes. This collaboration aims to boost efficiency and transparency across the group, ultimately delivering the best possible customer experience.

Increasing efficiency by optimizing key processes and leveraging a qualified team

Barmenia began using Celonis’ market leading process mining technology in 2021, starting with a successful pilot project in the field of service provisioning. Following this initial success, the company began exploring additional use cases.

Barmenia will now intensify this initiative and enter into a comprehensive partnership with Celonis. The collaboration will initially focus on optimizing ten key customer-related and value-adding processes. To effectively implement these optimization measures, Barmenia has established a dedicated unit within its strategic and operational process management organization, which is currently being expanded.

Company-wide initiative for process excellence

Through the partnership, Barmenia aims to holistically transform its business processes, establish a data-based 360° view along its entire value chain and realize significant optimization potential. The organizational foundation for this is effective process management, which relies on Celonis as the central data source (a “single source of truth”). Barmenia uses Object-Centric Process Mining (OCPM), the latest technology generation from Celonis, which provides a standardized, system-agnostic data model enabling the elimination of department-specific data silos. As a result, the interaction of individual objects within processes becomes visible, allowing all interactions and relationships to be mapped and end-to-end processes to be visualized, analyzed and improved in real time.

The deployment of artificial intelligence (AI) enables even more precise analysis and prediction of process flows. AI can identify patterns, predict trends and provide automated recommendations for optimization. This not only increases efficiency, but also raises the quality of decision-making to a new level.

Outlook: Process excellence for successful post-merger integration

The company-wide adoption of the Celonis Process Intelligence platform also plays a crucial role with regards to the planned merger with Gothaer Versicherung. This technology will help to standardize and harmonize the processes of both insurers, enabling continuous measurement of company and process performance, as well as future process improvement and automation.

Partnership for outstanding service experience and digital transformation

“Our top goal as a company is customer satisfaction,” said Frank Lamsfuß, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board at Barmenia. “The strategic partnership with Celonis helps us to achieve this and supports us in all phases of our digital transformation. With Celonis' expertise and innovative technologies, we can not only optimize our processes and increase our operational efficiency, but also further support our employees and offer our customers an even better service experience.”

“Processes represent the capabilities of the organization. They therefore determine the competitiveness of our company. Data-based process transparency is the key to realizing significant optimization potential along the value chain and thus the basis for digital transformation,” said Hakon Talan, Head of IT Strategy & Control at Barmenia. “This applies in particular to the challenging phase of a potential post-merger integration, in which the  rapid and smooth integration of systems and processes are key to the success.”

“We look forward to intensifying our collaboration with Barmenia and working together to establish sustainable, forward-looking process improvements,” said Remy Lazarovici, Managing Director DACH at Celonis. “Our platform also offers massive added value in the transformation and integration process in the course of the upcoming merger.”
