Celonis and PwC Germany launch five new Apps for Process Optimization and Monitoring

Celonis and PwC are launching five new "Celonis as a Service" apps to analyze and improve key business processes to achieve process optimization in the energy industry as well as in purchasing, shared service centers and customs clearance

April 8, 2021 – Munich and New York City – Celonis, the global leader in Execution Management Systems (EMS), today announced the launch of five new apps with its partner PwC Germany. The Celonis as a Service (CaaS) applications leverage Celonis market leading process mining and intelligent business execution technology. PwC Germany contributed concrete use cases and tailored the functionalities to specific business challenges, such as the billing process in the energy industry, or processes in purchasing, cash management, customs or shared service centers.

Five apps - one goal: Intelligent Business Execution

"We are pleased to see that the partnership with Celonis is already bearing fruit after just a few months. We can now offer our customers a whole range of user-friendly digital helpers for a wide variety of processes and industries. The apps offer much more than out-of-the-box solutions, as they can be customized to meet the individual needs of our users," comments Christian Bartmann, Partner and Global Celonis Alliance Leader at PwC Germany. "When we announced our global cooperation in July 2020, we set out one mutual objective: To combine PwC’s unique expertise with Celonis’ market leading technology to create even higher value for our joint clients. The five applications that PwC Germany is releasing on the Celonis Execution Management System are the result of PwC’s innovation spirit and evidence how world-class consultancies can leverage their IP in conjunction with the EMS platform," adds Malhar Kamdar, Chief Ecosystem Officer at Celonis.

The five new apps at a glance:

  1. The "Energy Analytics Meter-to-Cash" app is aimed at energy suppliers. It provides utility companies with transparency into their processes, allowing them to examine and optimize their meter-to-cash process. from meter reading to billing and receivables management. The app can be used to measure a wide variety of throughput times and industry-specific KPIs, as well as to analyze monitoring, such as billing and cancellation rates or rejected receipts. The app supports process automation by using intelligent triggers and the Celonis’ Automation Engine. For example, outsourced documents can be automatically checked and released according to specific rules.

  2. "Cash Prediction" is well-suited to international companies. The app uses machine learning to not only look at key performance indicators such as sales volume, liquidity, cash flow and purchasing behavior in retrospect, but also monitors them continuously and then forecasts them precisely for the future. PwC Germany expert Christian Bartmann explains the benefits of this app by way of an example: "If a company knows how much foreign currency it will need at a specific time, it can make smarter decisions and mitigate exchange rate risks more effectively. This not only saves money but strengthens reliability in decision-making."

  3. "Procurement Prediction" is similarly designed and specifically supports the purchasing department in forecasting important procurement metrics, such as quantities or delivery behavior. For example, the app can be used to predict which materials or material types will be needed in the future. Companies can use this information to manage the delivery behavior of their suppliers and inform price negotiations.

  4. The "Customs Compliance Check" app supports companies that import and export goods outside the EU, for example companies in the automotive industry, the chemical and pharmaceutical sector or mechanical engineering. The app can be used to check and optimize both compliance and the efficiency of customs processes. For example, users can track processes in real time and intervene if they discover possible violations of customs regulations, missing customs forms or exports before customs approval.

  5. "Activity Split Explorer" helps multinational companies to manage financial processes that have been outsourced to shared service centers (SSCs) and global business services (GBSs) more efficiently. The app compares the actual processes with the desired processes and checks if the division of tasks between corporate level, local level and GBS/SSC is adhered to as defined. Dashboards can be used to visually display key performance indicators in services placement - such as the percentage distribution of activities per country.

The "Celonis as a Service" apps are designed as a toolkit and can be customized to meet the individual needs of users. Further apps for other industry-specific challenges are currently being developed. The five new apps will be presented at PwC’s virtual booth during Celosphere 2021, the process mining and business execution event of the year.
