Coca-Cola Europe selects Celonis to transform business and boost customer satisfaction

Coca-Cola European Partners’ choice highlights how the world’s most successful organizations are leveraging the power of Celonis to optimize business outcomes

September 28, 2020 – (Munich, Germany and New York City, USA) – Celonis, the market leader in AI-enhanced process mining and process excellence software, has been selected by Coca-Cola European Partners (CCEP) to transform its end-to-end processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs and boost customer satisfaction.

As one of the world’s largest and most complex manufacturing, distribution and marketing organizations, CCEP annually sells more than 14 billion liters of branded drinks to 300M customers through one million outlets in 13 countries in western Europe.

By deploying Celonis’ market-leading technology, CCEP expects to implement faster, more efficient working practices and also save time for its 23,500 employees. Through identifying, aligning and optimizing thousands of corporate processes, CCEP wants to create a more consistent experience of the Coca-Cola brand for customers.

Steven Knoblich, Senior Manager, IT Strategic Business Solutions said: “To realize the full potential of the merger that created Coca-Cola Europe Partners, we need to understand and standardize our operations, and make them as efficient as possible. Traditional methods for doing that, such as workshops and consultancy, are too expensive, too time-consuming and too inaccurate. This is why we started working with Celonis. Coca-Cola identified Celonis as being the most powerful Process Mining company in the market, that could help us get the complete visibility we needed to achieve our desired business outcomes.”

CCEP is the latest in a line of the world’s most successful enterprises taking advantage of the power of Celonis’ software to achieve better business outcomes by transforming business operations. Using the power of AI to automatically identify and model complex internal processes, Celonis software analyses data from companies’ existing IT systems to identify areas for operational improvement. Process Mining is a much faster approach to transformation than conventional workshops and extended consultancy engagements. Celonis’ cost-effective solution takes the guesswork out of transformation projects – through providing factual, data-driven evidence for decision making around process optimization.

A new superpower to identify and align organizations’ processes

CCEP was formed in 2016 by the merger of three separate Coca-Cola distribution businesses in Europe. Each of the three companies had its own IT processes – some territories within the same company even had separate processes – and each company had adopted unique SAP models to create the same Coca-Cola product.

With Celonis, CCEP is beginning its initial three-step process to analyze process variations, identify the most effective processes for the business and its customers, then align the new organization on a library of uniform, optimized processes. From there, CCEP will leverage Celonis to monitor process adherence and performance, as well as ongoing identification of improvement opportunities. The program will streamline CCEP’s operations at every stage, unlocking hidden potential, capturing savings and improving the customer experience.

CCEP is starting with eight processes and plans to roll out Celonis across the entire business to create a 360-degree view of their business operations. As a proof of concept, Celonis already successfully optimized CCEP’s Order-to-Cash (OTC) process to create a shorter time to delivery and faster time to invoice payment. As a result, CCEP has been able to provide a more consistent service to its multinational customers, and has reduced administrative costs.

Miguel Milano, Chief Revenue Officer and Co-Owner of Celonis, comments: “At the heart of Process Mining is the discovery of how diverse systems interact – which is often the most challenging part of any transformation project. Every company has its own processes and identity. When organizations and systems migrate and merge, there is always variation, and this often leads to disagreement about the best way forward. Because Celonis runs fact-based process discovery, organizations can map entire process landscapes within an organization – no matter how large – to identify which variations are effective and which are causing problems for both the user organization and its customers.”
