Munich, March 19, 2024 - Celonis the global leader in Process Mining will support BARMER in its digital transformation. With the help of intelligent, data-driven analytics, BARMER aims to gain greater insight into its operations, improve process quality and accelerate the implementation of its digital agenda. To achieve this, Celonis will be established as the central platform for process transformation at BARMER. The two companies plan to develop specific solutions for health insurance, leading to better healthcare processes, more efficient care delivery and optimal customer service.  

Optimizing processes as the foundation for digital transformation

Health insurance companies deal with a large amount of critical data, such as health information, policyholder records, and billing data. Managing this data accurately and efficiently is critical to ensuring that patient concerns are addressed quickly and that the best possible service  experience is delivered. High-quality processes are also key to enabling employees to perform well in their roles. To further improve process quality, BARMER relies on the process mining technology from Celonis, the pioneer and global leader in this field.

The Celonis software enables BARMER to analyze, review and optimize its internal processes. In close cooperation, the two companies are developing an individual solution that is tailored to the specific needs of public health insurance and strengthens competencies along the entire value chain. This way, BARMER aims to improve process quality and increase customer satisfaction. The initial focus will be on improving care and support processes, such as managing travel costs for doctor visits or patient transportation. In addition, the first step will be to optimize the internal processing and management of patient requests. In the long term, the insurer wants to roll out Celonis throughout the company.

Cross-process optimization through best-in-class technologies 

In addition to pure process analysis and optimization, the innovative technologies provided by Celonis, including the Process Intelligence Graph, are key to strategic cooperation. Based on Object-Centric Process Mining (OCPM), the graph captures and standardizes a company's process data and supplements it with machine learning and comprehensive process knowledge gained from countless Celonis customer projects over the past ten years. This enables organizations to optimize, automate and transform processes across the company. Weak points can be identified and eliminated faster. With the integration of AI solutions such as Large Language Models (LLMs), BARMER is also opening up a multitude of new application possibilities for the future use of process mining, thus laying the foundation for technological leadership in health insurance in the medium and long term.
